{Safety First} Using the “Burnished” Limitless Kit

Hello everyone! Jessica here, sharing a layout using the “Burnished” Limitless kit to document some grungy garage pics of my son. They just love playing in the garage with daddy and “fixing” things! I think I’m going to have farm mechanics when they get older! They love working on tractors and they constantly pretend to fix their pedal and battery tractors when daddy is rebuilding engines and things on his real tractors! It’s so cute! I’ve been looking for a grungy type collection to document memories like these and this kit was so perfect!

I used this month's sketch by Nicole Santos for my layout! Play along in our Facebook group!

I started my layout by pulling out a sheet of the dark patterned paper from the kit and applying some white Liquitex Gesso across the page to follow the sketch design. I also ripped sections from both sides and backed the with one of the other patterned papers to create the paper strip effect of the sketch. I pulled out the blue paint and stencil from the kit and added some stenciling to my gesso'd area with a sponge so it didn't smudge below the stencil. I then added splatters by removing the nozzle and flicking splatters on with the Nuvo Mica Mist in the gold and blue shades from the kit. I've also added silver smoke and Heidi Swapp Color Shine in black to the mix.

I pulled out the small paper pad and backed my photo with some smooth white cardstock from my stash first and then one of the patterned sheets from the small paper pad. I distressed the edges and then adhered to my page. While I had the paper pad out I also pulled out a sheet with the embellishments on it and fussy cut a bunch of them out. I added those to my page and popped some up with some 3D foam squares from Thermoweb. I also pulled out some ephemera from one of the die cut packs and added some of those along with a wooden wrench!

I finished it off by adding a bunch of sequins from the kit using my gem tool and Nuvo liquid glue! I also added an Elle's Studio label with my date stamp to the bottom of my photo. I love how this one came together and the white gesso blends seamlessly with the paper!

I have a process video on my YouTube channel if you'd like to see how this came together!

Feel free to share your projects with this kit on our {Not} Just for Boys Kit Club Community Facebook group or Instagram using the #notjustforboyskitclub #njfb #burnished (or whatever kit you are using) tags!

Thank you for joining me today and I hope I have inspired you to create something beautiful!
