{Hello Winter} Using the “Keepin’ Cozy” Page Kit

Hello everyone! Jessica here, sharing my take on this month’s challenge using the “Keepin’ Cozy” page kit! This challenge is to use one wood element, two photos, and three patterned papers. I decided to pull in one of the paper cuts as well!

I started this layout by pulling out one of the recent paper cardstock cuts from this release and using a spatula to smear and smudge on some of the Nuvo Chalk Mousse. It's the perfect shade of light blue to go with the patterned papers in this kit! After I smudged on the mousse, I let it dry a few minutes and then pulled out the woodgrain paper and adhered it to the page with my tape runner and did some machine stitching on the circle part to really hold things in place. I then pulled out my Hello Winter wood piece and colored in the letters and outline with some Copic markers. I then laid the wood piece in the center of my circle and added splatters to it and on and around my paper cut. I added splatters using the Nuvo Mica Mist along with the Powder Puff Shimmerz Spritz from the "Keepin' Cozy" Essentials. I also added some white splatters with white acrylic paint. I pulled off the wood piece and set it aside to dry.

You can really see the dimension of the chalk mousse and all those splatters! I just love how sparkly the Mica Mist is. So beautiful and will add sparkle to any layout. I was impressed at how well it shows up on the dark patterned paper!

While my wood piece was drying, I went to work ripping strips of patterned paper to run down the sides of my layout. I then ruffled the edges up with my fingers and cut out a bunch of die cut leaves with my manual die cutting machine and a sheet of the white cardstock from the kit. I also used leftover white cardstock to mat my photos at this time, distressing the edges with my edge distresser. I tucked the leaves behind my wood piece and then glued it down to hold everything in place. I also added some sequins and thread for that extra something-something.

With some of the patterned paper left from ripping pieces for the sides, I matted my photos with it again. Then I began adding just a few embellishments from the kit, nothing too drastic as I did not want to take away from the elements I already had. I also pulled in a couple of those beautiful acrylic snowflakes that are sadly already sold out! I layered a couple tabs I made from Elle's Stamp sets and tucked them in at the top of my photos, along with some wordy bits. Then I tucked in more of the die cut leaves I made and more thread and sequins. I really love this sequin mix! I may just have to order more of those!

I hope you enjoy this layout as much as I do and feel free to play along with our challenge in the facebook group! I would love to see what you come up with!

Feel free to share your projects with this kit on our Facebook group or Instagram using the #notjustforboyskitclub #njfb #keepincozy (or whatever kit you are using) tags!

Thank you for joining me today and I hope I have inspired you to create something beautiful!
